frequently asked questions

To help you make the most of your wedding film,
we have prepared answers to a number of important questions we are often asked.

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. We market our services in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and London. This is because we like to meet all of our clients and discuss and plan our role in your wedding day before the actual day. We have a close working knowledge of wedding venues in our area. We usually work within a 50 mile radius (1 hour's drive) of Stevenage. In this area there is no extra charge for travel.

We can and do work further afield but apply a £100 fee for travelling more than 1 hour or 50 miles to your event. Also, when working in  London, we apply this charge. This is because 1) travel takes so long in London 2) we invariably need to pay a considrable sum to park in London and 3) there are congestion charges in London. If you are unsure of whether we can film at your event, or how much it might cost, please just call or email us and we'll have a chat.

We can film your Wedding DVDs and Videos in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, London, and Essex. Towns include: Royston, Hertford, Harlow, Hoddesdon, Potters Bar, Cheshunt, Luton, Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Leighton Buzzard, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Dunstable, Sawbridgeworth, Stansted, Biggleswade, Cambridge and Romford.

Will the wedding videography be discreet?

Yes absolutely. We are very experienced in documentary and events coverage and use professional lenses and equipment to capture amazing shots from a distance. During the ceremony we will find a discreet vantage point and remain there the whole time. For the rest of the day you will hardly notice us working away to record the best possible images for you. Unlike a wedding photographer, we do not usually engage with you by setting up shots, but focus on capturing the spontaneity and feeling of the day instead. We also film a lot of the day from two diffeent angles, so the end result is a very professional looking film of your day, beautfully edited and put together just for you. No two DVDs are the same, they are all as unique as your day.

Can we discuss our project with you beforehand?

Absolutely! In most cases, we will travel to you for a meeting to find out exactly what you like and discuss ideas for making your video as special as your big day. If we are incredibly busy and unable to meet you personally, we will discuss your needs in detail by telephone. The sooner this can happen the better, so that we have time to plan everything properly. We always have a meeting 4 weeks prior to your wedding day to finalise plans. Again, if we are unable to come and see you, we will send you a list of questions about the final arrangements for your day and then conference call you to discuss any finer details for your day. We want to talk to you before your day, as it's important we get a feel for you both as a couple and are able to meet your expectations and needs well.

Do you use lighting equipment?

Whilst lighting is important in any video production, we avoid using artificial lights wherever possible as they draw attention and detract from the spontaneity of the coverage. Obviously much depends on the venue and time of day (or year), as we prefer to adjust the settings on our cameras to work in low light conditions. If a particular situation requires extra lighting, we need to discuss this before the day and plan accordingly, but our cameras perfrom exceptionally when filming in very low light situations. We have studio lights if needed but have never needed them to this day!

What equipment do you use?

We use professional Sony DVCAM broadcast cameras and a range of specialist grip equipment. Sound recording is done with Sennheiser wireless and location microphones. Editing takes place using Adobe Premiere PCs. In addition, we use a range of specialist peripheral equipment and software to create a unique finished film. This, combined with our skills in editing, produces a vey high quality recording of your day.

Can I choose the music?

Yes of course. Our aim is to make the finished video as relevant and as meaningful to you as possible. We will be delighted to discuss your preferred style of music and suggest additional tracks wherever needed. We add your musical choice where most appropriate and edit the footage of your day to great dramatic effect. We take a long time over putting this all together for you as we believe we're only as good as our last wedding.

How long will the finished wedding video last?

Most of our wedding videos last anywhere between 60 and 80 minutes amximum. Our films tell the story of your special day, and we achieve this by careful and skilled video editing and post productions, plus incorporating your choice of music into the final film to highlight the emotions and spirit of your day's events. The end product is a film that you, your family and friends will love to watch from beginning to end.

To view a sample DVD menu, highlights and DVD packaging see our Samples page. To request a sample DVD by post of a typical package, please just call or email us - above all else, we want to record your day for you and will help you as much as we can.

When will my wedding video be ready to watch?

The DVD production process takes 4 - 6 weeks, but during the summer season can in fact take 8 - 10 weeks or longer, as we are filming every weekend and usually during the week too. We will let you know how busy we are nearer the time. We aim to give you a "rough cut" of your day, ask you what you would like changed / edited etc., do one set of amendments based on this feedback and then send you a final version of your special day on film. The rough cut will be the movie without titles and DVD menu. The final version will include a DVD chapter menu and titles for each chapter. All of this is individually designed for you, based on colour schemes and styles from your wedding day.

How will you record the sound during the day so that we hear everything that happens? Most of the videos I've seen have dreadful sound!

Too often wedding videographers neglect the sound quality on wedding videos, especially during the ceremony and speeches. On all our productions we use a combination of radio microphones and professional studio mikes to ensure a cleane, sharper and more defined sound. Before the wedding video shoot, we contact your ceremony and reception venues concerning technical matters. We either mike up the people we film, or discreetly hide mikes close by so that we hear and record everything. We can also enhance our sound recordings in post production if need be.

Can you record anything before the wedding?

Yes and it's a nice idea. This could include anything from an engagement party to an ‘interview’ with the bride and groom just before the ceremony. We’ve lots of ideas to make your wedding video fun and totally unique, so don’t hesitate to tell us what you'd like and discuss additional cost. Please also remember that each package we list is designed to help you easily select your requirements and it is possible to tailor any package and it's price to suit your needs.

Are you insured ?

Yes we are. This is our profession and our day job (night job and weekend job too!). We have insurance cover through BECTU - the Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union. This insurance includes £5 million public liability insurance.

Can we buy extra copies of our film and how long after our wedding can we do this?
