Most people have heard this old Victorian rhyme at some time, but what does it mean

Something Old – this is a link to the Bride’s family, friends and the past.  The bride could wear a piece of family jewellery or even a Wedding Dress passed down from her mother or grandmother.  In some cases this is an old garter passed from a happily married woman to the bride to ensure she has a happy marriage.

Something New – this represents good fortune and success in the bride’s new life.  The Wedding Dress is often used as the new item.

Something Borrowed – This is to remind the Bride that family and friends will be there for her in her new life should she need them.  A solution would be for a friend or family to offer a piece of jewellery or a lace handkerchief to be returned after the wedding for good luck in the future.

Something Blue – Blue is thought to be lucky and represents faithfulness, loyalty, purity and constancy.  In some countries a blue ribbon was worn in the bride’s hair.  Nowadays a blue garter is the Blue item needed!

Silver Sixpence in her Shoe – a silver sixpence was put in the brides shoe to bring wealth in their married life both in money and happiness.  I believe this can be any kind of penny silver or otherwise.

We have just filmed the Wedding of Victoria and Martin Taylor this Saturday 28th January 2012!  A lovely service at St Mary’s Church in Buckden to start with.  A truly beautiful and interesting church and a marvelous lady Vicar, Ally Barrett, who married Victoria and Martin in style!  Despite the crispness of the air, the sun was shining and the skies were  blue, which will look awesome on their wedding DVD.

Then on to The Bedford Swan Hotel on the Embankment for a 5 star Wedding Reception.  This was run by the Manager for the evening, Ercol, who did a first class job for both the Bride and Groom and ourselves as videographers.  Overlooking the river this is a top class location.  The room was sumptous and decorated with fairy lights, flowers and candles and the atmosphere was totally relaxed.  Plenty of room for the children to run around and enjoy themselves without getting trodden on!  Children’s entertainer was a brilliant idea so the speeches were done in style with no interruptions. The delicious food was delivered faultlessly by a supberb team of waiters/waitresses.  Then fabulous live music provided by a solo guitarist who entertained brilliantly until the resident DJ announced the First Dance and all merriment continued at full speed.  Definately a night to remember!

Lots of action and atmosphere captured by our cameras today, so it will be a Wedding DVD to watch again and again.

We filmed a very festive Wedding at Moor Park (www.moorparkgc.co.uk) on the 23rd December 2011 for Tamsin and Russell.  A beautiful venue with all the christmas decorations and christmas tree in all its glory!  They had relatives playing the piano during their ceremony which was a lovely personal touch.

Tamsin looked beautiful in a lacy wedding dress with Russ looking handsome in his suit.  Moor Park was comfortable and welcoming and the food was supberb as usual.

The entertainment from the Creatures Band in the evening made sure everyone had an excellent time.

All in all and wonderful day.

What a dilemma! Do you run for cover, turn your back or smile sweetly! From our experience relaxed guests who carry on with what they are doing and maybe give the odd smile to camera is perfect!

Don’t run and hide, we are there to film you for your bride and groom. They want to see you having a good time. You don’t need to duck out of the way or apologise for walking in front of the camera.

The shot with you in may only last a few seconds anyway or may not even make the final film! Our advice would be to try to relax, ignore the camera, and carry on as normal – enjoy yourselves. If your guests want to do a special dance for you, or tribute, all the better! Guests and Bride and Groom, this is your chance for a moment in the limelight. Enjoy it!

It’s a tricky question. The weather from May to September should by rights be much better than the spring, autumn and winter months. Filming wedding videos across the year, we find that a lot of the summer weddings are let down by humidity, showers and storms or unseasonably bad weather.

In the winter months you invariably get bright days and although they’re often almost alpine in temperature, are lovely and bright – which is not only great for your guests as it’s cool outside, but also fab conditions for videography and photography.

So in summary, in England, you’re more likely to be disappointed in the weather if you’re married in the summer. It’s just as likely to be lovely in winter.

Try winter, it’s great!
